Boss have made some auto wah style pedals over the years starting in the very early years of the compact series. These include the Boss TW-1, FT-2, AW-2 and AW-3. Each pedal has its own set of features and represents a snapshot in time of where Boss' design development was at the time. It produced a thick, throaty wah tone and was the first compact filter effect released by Boss. The TW-1 has 2 knobs and a toggle switch and is one of only 2 pedals (along with the CS-1) to feature this design. The Sens (short for Sensitivity) knob is used to control how sensitive the effect is to your playing dynamics and the Peak knob controls the tone of the filter. The Drive toggle switches between a Down and Up setting, referring to the motion of a typical treadle-based wah pedal. The Boss FT-2 Dynamic Filter, a short-lived gem that has left a lasting impact on musicians worldwide. Known for its auto wah envelope filter, this Japanese-made guitar pedal is a unique addition to any setup. Crafted between the years of 1986-1988, its rarity makes it not just a practical tool for any guitarist, but also a collector's item. Compact and efficient, the Boss FT-2 delivers clear, dynamic tones that will elevate your sound to new heights. Boss AW-2 The AW-2 took over from the TW-1 in 1991. In addition to the regular Auto Wah effect it has a modulation effect that periodically shifts the sound. This make the variations numerous and it is known to be quite hard to adjust the AW-2’s sound. Boss AW-3 The BOSS AW-3 Dynamic Wah pedal gives guitarists a wide range of classic auto-wah and dynamic wah effects, plus a new "Humanizer" effect which can simulate human vowel sounds. A Bass input provides a variety of funky wah sounds for bass guitar. The AW-3 Dynamic Wah is the first compact wah pedal to incorporate human voice-type sounds through a new “Humanizer” Mode. Of course, you can also choose from standard up-and-down wah effects, plus a Tempo Mode and resonant synth-like Sharp Mode.
