The operating ferry-boat on the Adda River, joining Imbersago and Villa d’Adda, was designed by the genius of Leonardo Da Vinci (Windsor Code 12400). It is the unique ferry-boat of the five built that is still functioning allowing passengers to reach the province of Bergamo. The ferry-boat is composed by two boats placed side by side, with a platform and a central shaft on which there is a roller on which the cable runs joining s the opposite shores of the Adda River. This mechanism designed by Leonardo Da Vinci allows the boat to move without any engine or oars support, but just thanks to the current’s motion and the system of the fixed cable between tow opposite shores. The flowing energy faces the resistance of the boat and the cable, thus creating an indirect lateral motion that moves the boat between the two shores rightly using the rudders. This ferry-boat is an eco-friendly means of transport and hosts both people and vehicles. It functions all year round.
