The Cinematographer or Director of Photography has one of the most important roles on the set, to collaborate with the director to bring their vision of the film to life. Today I shall be interviewing Simon Rowling -Selected by British Cinematographer magazine as its 'NEW WAVE' rising star DOP in it's 2020 issue, Simon has now shot 10 feature films, countless shorts and TV pilots, as well as a multitude of commercials, with 27 wins and 4 nominations for his work. Initially starting out over 15 years ago in the props and special effects department, Simon soon found his potential behind the lens and moved into the camera department. LINK TO SIMON'S WEBSITE - https://www.srcinematography.co.uk/ His most recent film to hit the cinemas across America and now streaming in the UK, has been folk horror 'LORD OF MISRULE', directed by William Brent Bell (The Boy, Orphan: First Kill) with lead cast Tuppence Middleton and Ralph Ineson. Lionsgate feature film 'ONE RANGER' starring Thomas Jane and John Malkovich, which Simon shot for director Jesse v Johnson, was released in May 2023 in US Cinemas and on VOD in the UK. In 2022 Simon shot a one-off TV special, 'AMA'S STORY' for Wildseed Studios and Sky with Director Makalla Mcpherson and completed 2nd unit work on the film 'CANYON OF THE DEAD' starring Tom Felton. In the summer of 2022 Simon also wrapped on 'DUCHESS', a crime thriller shot in Tenerife, for director Neil Marshall (Dog Soldiers, The Descent) starring Sean Pertwee, Phillip Winchester and Charlotte Kirk. Due for release in summer 2024. Your Host - Lance Steen Anthony Nielsen is a four time award winning playwright, author, acting coach and film director. Throughout his career he’s worked with some of the best British actors in the industry including Jason Flemyng, Danny Webb, Duncan Pow, Lindsey Coulson, Paul Copley, Alicia Eyo, Wil Johnson, Craig Fairbrass and has numerous other actors attached to projects in development including Phil Davis, Donal Logue and Sharon Duncan Brewster. An avid table top gamer, Lance has a passion for running huge games for players in a variety of settings. He co-founded The Outcasts Creative, an actors workshop, with actor and coach Dickon Tolson. Together they run the Outcasts drop-in acting class from 2019 - 2023) - The company also does stage productions including Borderlands and the recent False Accounts about the Horizon Post Office scandal.
