In this broadcast, Dennis Spurling breaks down the hidden history and lasting impact of the 1965 Immigration and Nationality Act on Foundational Black Americans (FBA). Before 1965, Black immigration from the Caribbean and Africa was almost non-existent. Caribbean immigrants arrived in very small numbers, and African immigrants numbered fewer than a football stadium’s worth of people. Afro-Latinos were rare, and most immigrants to the U.S. were white Europeans. Dennis explains how the 1965 Immigration Act — passed on the heels of the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts — flung open the gates for non-European immigrants from Africa, the Caribbean, Asia, and Latin America. And where did many of these newcomers settle? Directly into the very communities FBAs had built through struggle, sacrifice, and blood — Harlem, Bed-Stuy, South Central LA, the South Side of Chicago, Detroit’s West Side, and more. While some joined in solidarity, many competed for the same jobs, housing, and political power. The policy change diluted the FBA cultural stronghold that had been essential in forcing America to confront its moral rot. Dennis lays out how immigration policy became another silent tool — alongside COINTELPRO and the crack epidemic — in undermining FBA progress. 💵 SUPPORT THE BROADCAST PayPal: https://www.paypal.me/DennisSpurling CashApp: $DennisSpurling Venmo: @DennisSpurling 📚 BOOKS – Rules to Live By (Volumes 1–3) Amazon: Rules to Live By – Volumes 1–3 Autographed Copies: Email spurlingdennis@gmail.com 📅 ONE-ON-ONE APPOINTMENTS Email spurlingdennis@gmail.com to schedule your private consultation with Dennis Spurling. 🔖 HASHTAGS #ImmigrationAct1965 #FBAHistory #FoundationalBlackAmerican #BlackImmigration #CivilRightsEra #BlackPolitics #UrbanHistory #CutTheCheck #BlackHistory
