Revit Tips - Use Assembly for Legend Views

Hey guys, today I'm going to show you how to use assembly to create lengend views for a window. Sometimes when some of the windows are not standard, I like to simply create them using curtain wall and then create an assembly for the legend view. Here are the steps: 1. Create the curtain wall as required. 2. Select some mullion and panels, create an assembly (not curtain grids or the whole curtain wall) 3. add or remove parts until the whole "window" is in this assembly 4. In the project browser, find the assembly catogery and find the newly created "window", create views 5. Tick all the views you need, eg. plan for checking orientation, front elevation for the legend, 3D view if it's non- standard, like corner window. 6. Add dimensions as required. You might need to draw a line as the floor level... 7. Add views onto a sheet. Because only the mullions and panels are allowed to be added in the assembly, you can not edit the "window" if you use the Edit Assembly command. Instead you can use the Tab key to find the Curtain Grid or Curtain Wall control points outside of the Edit Assembly command. You can also change the panel to window catogery and change your assembly catogery to windows. You can use window tag on the panel in the assembly, just use Tab key.
