This tutorial will show you how to cast on scallop shapes in stockinette stitch, where the border stitches are a different colour to the rest. This makes a really eye-catching wavy edge. The first step is to make a crochet chain, and then you pick up stitches on this chain and knit them. This might remind you of the provisional cast on if you've done that before. Short rows are then used to create the individual scallops, one at a time.
