The first one under discussion is unilateral proptosis whose etiological factors include a variety of lesions ranging from Congenital Anomalies/conditions, and traumatic lesions, to Vascular System lesions and cysts and tumors of orbit. Likewise, bilateral proptosis can be due to developmental anomalies of the skull and systemic diseases such as Amyloidosis. After that, acute proptosis comes under consideration whose causes include orbital emphysema and Haemorrhage. Next is intermittent proptosis. This is followed by pulsatile proptosis which is its fifth type. It can be caused by pulsating vascular lesions and transmitted cerebral pulsations. After discussing the proptosis in detail, its clinical evaluation is explained the first step is taking history. Then local examination can be carried out by inspection, transillumination, visual acuity, and fundoscopy. Moreover, laboratory investigations include Thyroid Gland function tests, hematological studies, and other tests. For further investigations, some non-invasive and invasive Clinical Radiology techniques are explained such as MRI, computed tomography scanning, and carotid angiography respectively. Comments are also given on histopathological studies. Proceeding onward, discussion continues on its treatment through systemic steroids, radiotherapy, and surgical decompression. Lastly, light is shed on a condition known as enophthalmos. ▬ 🎬 5500+ sqadia.com Medical Videos ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 👩🏻⚕️ Accessible Medical Student Education 24/7/365 💡 Simplifying Medical Learning 💪 Study Hard, Dream Big, Achieve More
