Stefan Buntrock, urologist from Göttingen, explains in this video on UroChannel how fertile men 60+ are. Generally, fertility decreases with age. While 20-30 year olds have 90% spermatids in their seminiferous tubules of the testicles, this proportion drops down to 10% in 80 year olds. Sperm motility and sperm morphology are two other parameters which decrease substantially over the years. Apart from that, DNA damage gets more common with age, increasing the risk for genetic diseases such as schizophrenia or Klinefelter's syndrome in the newborn. Men have to be aware of these risks because modern medicine has come long way and is offer a solution to almost everybody. If necessary, intracytoplasmatic sperm injection (ICSI) is possible. With this method, a sperm cell is directly injected into the egg of the mother.
