Sun Riders MCC, a renowned motorcycle club in Mpumalanga’s motorcycling scene, commemorated their 10th anniversary with a grand rally from 7-9 June 2024. The celebration began with a gala dinner on Thursday night, a heartfelt event where the club extended their gratitude to all sponsors and members who have supported them over the past decade. The gala dinner was an elegant affair, attended by members, sponsors, and key figures in the biking community. Bra Ike, a long standing member of Sun Rider Mcc Sunriders, was the evening's most honored guest. Since the club's inception, Bra Ike has provided top-of-the-line sound systems for their events, significantly enhancing the experience for all attendees. His dedication and contributions were recognized with a special award and a standing ovation from the attendees. Mr. Ntwanino Mtungwa from the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency was also acknowledged for his crucial role in promoting tourism through his partnership with Sun Riders. His efforts have ensured that the annual rally at Mbombela Stadium not only draws a large crowd but also boosts the local economy, with bikers spending on fuel, accommodation, and food in Nelspruit and the surrounding areas. This year’s rally saw generous donations from Bikers Of Africa and Dunlop Tyres SA. Both organizations donated a set of motorcycle tyres—one set for superbikes and another for adventure bikes. These donations were highly appreciated and will go a long way in supporting the club’s activities and members. Sun Riders MCC also paid a heartfelt tribute to a Sapa Yopa member who inspired them to host their first rally in 2014. This homage highlighted the deep connections and mutual respect within the biking community, underscoring the collaborative spirit that has driven the success of Sun Riders over the years. Despite the cold winter season, the rally was a resounding success, thanks in part to Sun Riders' meticulous planning. The club ensured there was ample firewood to keep everyone warm throughout the event. Trucks made several stops at the rally site, dropping off loads of wood, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere for all attendees. The effort to provide warmth was highly commended, showcasing the club’s commitment to the comfort and well-being of its guests. The weekend was filled with activities, camaraderie, and celebration. Bikers from all over the SADC gathered to participate in all activities and celebrate the decade-long journey of Sun Riders MCC.
