When gCADPlus or other landscape CAD designs are moved to SketchUp for 3D model building, the layers used are available in SketchUp. When building SketchUp models it is useful to use layers in much the same way as you do in gCADPlus. Concepts like keeping planting on its own layer (we routinely use a layer called L-PLNT-SYMBOL), being aware of the current layer and the properties of individual entities (use the model info window) are important and similar in both environments. However, there have been changes to the way SketchUp handles layers in recent versions - not so much in how SketchUp works with layers, but more that the terminology used makes it difficult to activate the layers window. In their wisdom, SketchUp now calls the layers stack 'Tags'. This movie shows how to find these layers/tags tools in SketchUp 2020.
