Andrew Parrott: Taverner Consort & Players. Recorded in 1990. "Silent Night" was written by the Austrian composer, Franz Gruber in 1818. Parts of the original German text are translated to English much differently than how they are sung by English speakers around the world. This video attempts to capture the beauty of the song being sung in its original language, and also display an unaltered translation of the text. The images are meant to express the meaning of the lyrics. The final picture is of a cross: a reminder that Jesus Christ was born to save the world from sin. Disclaimer: I do not own these images.
