This session brings together two powerful voices: an experienced urban planner sharing insights on the spatial and policy frameworks driving regeneration, and a representative from Jozi My Jozi, a civic movement reimagining the city through community-led action and public space activation. Together, they’ll unpack the challenges, innovations, and opportunities shaping a more inclusive, vibrant, and resilient inner city. Speakers: Lethu Masango Lethu Collen Masango is an urban planner with more than 20 years of professional experience in the built environment. He currently serves as a Senior Urban Economist at the World Bank’s Pretoria office. Since joining the World Bank in 2019,Lethu has contributed to Operations and Technical Advisory projects across Uganda, Kenya, and South Africa. Before his tenure at the World Bank, Lethu held significant roles within the City of Johannesburg, working in the Economic Development, Housing, and Development Planning departments. Lethu holds a Master's Degree in Development Planning from the University of the Witwatersrand. Diale Lodi Diale has over 20 years experience in the urban and development planning profession. As a qualified Urban and Regional Planner, he works in the areas of spatial and collaborative planning, land use planning, geographic information systems, urban policy development and implementation, integrated development planning and intergovernmental planning. Diale contributed nationally when he led the implementation of the Integrated Urban Development Framework, and the subsequently formed part of the team leading the development and implementation of the District Development Model. Diale led the urban and spatial planning and the implementation of the DDM in Gauteng. Diale also initiated the CBD Revitaluzation currently being rolled out by the Gauteng government. During his career, Diale hosted, curated and participated in conferences, webinars, and seminars locally and abroad on issues of spatial planning, urban planning and development in general.
