Sunshine, crystal-clear sea, delicious food, and extraordinary monuments – join me on a journey to Anfeh, a town known as "Lebanese Little Greece" and one of the best summer destinations in Lebanon. A beach-hungry tourists, history buffs and Mediterranean cuisine lovers will find something find something for themselves here. In this vlog, I'll show you the most interesting places in Anfeh and delve into the history of this unique town. --------------------------------------------------- Anfeh is a coastal town in northern Lebanon, 65 kilometers north of Beirut and just 15 kilometers south of Tripoli, with a population of 6,500. As in centuries past, the primary occupation of most of its inhabitants is fishing. Anfeh is renowned for its landscape of small blue-and-white houses, colorful windmills, and saltworks situated right on the Mediterranean coast. Tourists are drawn here by its clean, clear waters, perfect for swimming and water sports. One of the most popular beaches in the city is Taht el Rih, distinguished by its complete lack of wind, picturesque seaside cottages, clear waters, and a peaceful atmosphere. Seafood is a must-try here, as there are numerous restaurants serving the finest cuisine freshly caught from local fishermen. Founded by the Phoenicians, Anfeh's origins date back to 3200 BC. The city enjoyed considerable importance in ancient times. Among other things, the famous Phoenician ships were built here. To this day, we can admire remnants of ancient civilizations, such as Phoenician and Roman walls, wine presses, mosaics, and much more. During Crusader times, the Anfeh peninsula was a powerful fortress, including a castle built on the site of a former Phoenician citadel. The city was a fiefdom of the Counts of Tripoli. Today, as in ancient times, the city's surroundings are covered with coastal salt pans. The production of sea salt, the "white gold," is, alongside fishing and tourism, a cornerstone of the local economy. Anfeh's monuments, old churches, and archaeological sites on the peninsula make it one of the most popular tourist destinations on Lebanon's northern coast. --------------------------------------------------- You can find more content on my Instagram page: / piteroskyy_travels --------------------------------------------------- Music credits: Cinematic Documentary Calm by Infraction / @infraction • Cinematic Documentary Calm by Infraction [...
