But, and this is a big but, the If It Fits Your Macros Diet is often portrayed as the "eat pizza, pop tarts, & ice cream while still getting shredded diet." And you can. You can eat pizza, pop tarts, ice cream and, literally, anything you want and still lose fat. Because as long as your calories are in check (in a calorie deficit) you will lose fat. However! The shredded Instagram models and fitness goo-roos (who preach The If It Fits Your Macros Diet) and only show themselves eating pizza and ice cream and captain crunch and s'mores aren't being fully honest with you. They aren't outright lying. But they aren't giving you the whole story. See, they definitely eat those things. And they also get shredded. But that's not all they eat. And no matter how many pictures they post of themselves eating all the sweetest, tastiest junk...they're not eating all that much. Because most of their diet is made up of "healthy" foods. Veggies. Fruits. Lean proteins. Water. Yada yada yada. They're flexible with their nutrition and know how to use The If It Fits Your Macros Diet to their advantage. But they use it as a treat. An extra bonus. A way to not feel guilty just because they enjoyed themselves. Which I love. And I support 100%. On the same token, eating junk all day wouldn't help them achieve their goals. They'd be hungry all the time. And it wouldn't be as healthy for you, even if you are able to lose fat (which you can so long as you're in a calorie deficit). My point? I support The If It Fits Your Macros Diet 100%. But, please, don't let the Instagram goo-roos fool you. They aren't only eating junk. They aren't eating much junk at all. They're eating a little here and there, and just showing you the highlight reel of their diet so you will buy their next macro e-book.
