Investigation reveals most SIM cards not compliant with RICA

SIM card fraud continues to be a headache for many South Africans. A recent investigation by Business Day has revealed non-compliance in the registration of most SIM cards. According to the latest data from DataReportal, which measures how people use digital devices, 112.7 million cellular connections were active in SA in early 2023, which is more than the population. Concerns were raised when RICA was first introduced over its susceptibility to enabling crime.
