Stone Mountain Scenic Railroad: July 18, 2015

On a muggy day in mid-July, we headed to the Atlanta area where we found Stone Mountain running their ex. Southern Railway FP7 #6143. The engine was recently (appx. 2 years) out from a major overhaul that involved the swapping of the old 567 prime mover for a more modern 645 block, the addition of air conditioning, ditch lights recessed into the carbody, and a new Central of Georgia inspired paint scheme. Come along as we ride "The Rock Line" and catch the new Wild West show. Also included is a bonus ride on the Stone Mountain Skyride, which happens to pass the largest relief sculpture in the world, featuring carvings of Confederate president Jefferson Davis, and generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson.
