First of all, if you're searching for this vid, my condolences about the Cintiq. This is a 100% amateur thing (my phone camera was having a seizure) filmed to slightly decrease world succ for the next person going in blind. READ THE DESCRIPTION for something more useful. This was *already previously opened* and a repair was attempted by the person I got it from, hence some things will be different on a fresh one than what's on the video. I'll attempt to detail those things in the comments as well. Notes (do as I say, not as I do): -opening the case- 1) start with the hidden tamper-evident screws while the rest are still clamping the case. The hole under the sticker is smaller than the screw head and the head strips veeeery easily. Cut sticker with knife and drill out plastic slightly with a bit that has a nearly flat point angle (I have a screw extractor bit that is perfect for the job). 2) pop out the screw covers with a long thin pick, stick it down the cutout and then lever it up instead of using a usual prying motion which will damage the plastic. 3) All visible screws besides the cable organizer and the two under the sticker (which only loosen and don't come out) must be removed. If the clips holding the back and screen together don't pop very easily all around, you've got a screw in somewhere -removing the boards- 0) the heat sink was riveted onto that graphics chip previously, as I mentioned this was already opened by the previous owner. 1) remove the metal shields but keep the other screw(s) in while you unplug the cables so the PCB doesn't move around. 2) the most crappy and fragile connectors are on the board with the power socket (top of the stack of 2). You have 1-2 attempts to unplug the fan plugs before they crumble, so grip it properly the first time. You can help the other few unclip with some prying action with a flathead on the clippy bits. 3) JIC you wanted to know, I didn't remove the USB ports on the sides but they are connected USB to USB micro-B -reassembly- (not filmed) 1) hold the boards down in place by screwing in the screws where the PCB has a marker line on it. 2) display connectors are FRAGILE. Make sure they are properly seated (triple check) and then push the clamping lever down with 2 fingers, NOT one. 3) don't forget to put back the tape, or if you left it there, to plug in the stuff under the tape (lol I'm so good at this) 4) make sure the case is clicked back on all around before screwing it together, check it twice because you only need to look at it wrong to have it unclip in some place. Leave the tamper-evident screws for last. -screw types info- I hate Wacom for being worse than Apple about repairs, but I love the design for assembly (if only they gave us spare parts and service manuals...) -I heard that the ergo stand plate's screws (this tablet didn't have them) are 4x2 identical long screws. --You have 2 small shiny silver screws where the rubber feet go -You have a special tapered head screw for the cable strap thing more importantly: -You have the standard black for-plastic screw all around holding things together -And the standard mm-thread screw for all the PCBs I removed. Disclaimer: Take this all with a grain of salt (or more like an entire saltmine) because it's n=1 and I have no idea what I'm doing really. I have experience taking apart (sometimes breaking parts and thus) performing very minor repair on laptops of friends so if something got more wrecked I was confident I could at least undo most of the damage. don't blame me if you break your tablet further.
