I am so grateful for their help and this series wouldn't be what it is is without their help!!! What is the gold award project? The Gold Award is the highest achievement within the Girl Scouts of the USA, earned by Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts Why am I doing this? The Department of Human Resources has problems placing kids especially teens in our community. The issue my project will address is raising awareness around my community and the U.S. on what it is truly like to foster and adopt kids from Department of Human Resources (DHR). This video series will cover the benefits and challenges on what it's like to parent foster kids. It will also cover what it's like for biological families, how it affects marriages and kids already in the home. My ultimate goal is to help educate and recruit more foster and adoptive families. My family fosters kids and has been fostering kids for 3 years and I see the impact that foster families have on kids. People in my community are always asking and wanting to know more on what it’s like to be a foster parent or family. So I thought the best way is to reach people it through this video series.
