Don’t just linger on one Seychellois island. You can hop between private islands, wildlife havens and rum-toting local villages by scenic flight or local ferry. Audley specialist Matt explored the Seychelles on a research trip and here he explains why you should combine a number of islands. As you’ll see from his footage, the views from the light aircraft are a particularly good reason to travel across the archipelago. You could luxuriate on the private Denis Island or watch swooping sooty terns and free-roaming giant tortoises on the aptly named Bird Island. Travel by ferry to La Digue, where you can cycle along palm-shaded tracks or trek through Praslin’s Vallée de Mai Nature Reserve in search of the rare Coco de Mer palm. On the largest island of Mahé there’s Victoria, a toy town of a capital, as well as rum distilleries and spice gardens. You’ll find more ideas for how to explore in our Seychelles highlights guide.
