King of Kings: The Iranian Revolution and The Fall of the Shah Scott Anderson in conversation with Ramita Navai Scott Anderson’s Kings of King traces a moment when the Shah of Iran seemed invincible. He commanded a huge army, enjoyed vast oil revenues, and, backed by a secret police force, faced little organised opposition. Yet village streets told another story, blaming him for inequality and excess. In conversation with Ramita Navai, Anderson explores how this revolution, led by Ayatollah Khomeini, forced the Shah into exile and reshaped the modern Middle East and beyond. Scott Anderson is the author of two novels and six nonfiction books, including Lawrence in Arabia, an international bestseller. His current work, King of Kings, was a New York Times bestseller and winner of the Kirkus Prize. A contributing writer of the New York Times Magazine, Anderson’s 2016 landmark report on the Middle East, “Fractured Lands,” remains the longest sole-author article in American magazine history. Ramita Navai is a double Emmy and Robert F. Kennedy Award winning journalist, documentary maker, and author. Her book City of Lies, about Tehran, won two literary awards. Her podcast The Line of Fire reached the Apple Top 10. Her most recent documentary is Gaza: Doctors Under Attack.
