Hiking and summiting Mount Temple via Moraine Lake and Valley of the Ten Peaks in Banff National Park - Climbing Mount Temple in Canada's Banff National Park has been on my radar for years now. The problem was getting to Banff as it's such a destination area. Mount Temple is included in the Canadian Rockies and is visible from many areas of Banff National Park including the Lake Louise area and the Trans - Canadian Highway. Mount Temple is not very technical but described as an "ultimate scramble", we found this to be very accurate. The views were among the best I've seen and the effort it took to obtain them was difficult but not extraordinary. Just the hike up to Sentinel Pass was worth the time and effort, as the views into Valley of the Ten Peaks and Paradise Valley are off the charts. There are no private vehicles allowed to park at Lake Moraine unless you're staying at the lodge. You must schedule a shuttle in order to get to the trailhead, so plan accordingly. Moraine Lake, Valley of the Ten Peaks, Sentinel Pass and Mount Temple are all worth the planning and cost it takes to complete. I bit my lip and opened my wallet, but so glad we decided to brave the crowds in this incredible area of Banff National Park.
