This clip features the Pride of Baltimore II and the tall ship Cuauhtemoc, among other sailing vessels that took part in the Parade of Sail in the Hudson River at the start of Op Sail on May 23, 2012. The Pride of Baltimore II, a topsail schooner, is a reproduction of the Chasseur, a Baltimore sailing ship that served as a privateer (under a letter of marque and reprisal granted by Congress as authorized under Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution) during the War of 1812. Pride of Baltimore II was commissioned in 1988 as a replacement for the Pride of Baltimore, which sank off Puerto Rico in 1986 with the loss of her captain and three crew members. The barque ARM Cuauhtemoc is a sail training ship in the Mexican Navy. Built in Bilbao, Spain, and launched in 1982, she is a sister ship of the ARM Gloria (Colombia) and BAE Guayas (Ecuador), which also took part in Operation Sail in New York in 2012. Among features of the Manhattan skyline in the background are the Empire State Building and One World Trade Center (aka the Freedom Tower), under construction. Video shot from Pier A Park, Hoboken, New Jersey.
