In this Screen Gems outtake, former president Harry S. Truman discusses the challenges of the 1948 campaign, including his stance on civil rights. (WARNING: Mr. Truman uses a racial slur in this video.) He also discusses traveling around the country, and meeting with Joseph P. Kennedy, Sr. Then he describes election night timeline, and the journalists' reactions to Dewey's defeat. He finishes with a story about Admiral Leahy. This item is from the Screen Gems Collection.
