The University of Michigan’s Mobility Transformation Facility (MTF) offers the broad range of complexities vehicles encounter in urban and suburban environments. It includes approximately three lane-miles of roads with intersections, traffic signs and signals, sidewalks, benches, simulated buildings, street lights, and obstacles such as construction barriers. Current plans call for the facility be opened by spring 2015. A virtual model of the MTF is already available in PreScan, which is the industry-standard simulation platform for development and evaluation of active safety, connected vehicle and automated driving systems.
