I demonstrate how to calculate an independent samples t-test in Excel. This test is also known as two samples t-test, or unpaired t-test. An independent samples t-test uses the measurements from two different groups of individuals and compares the means. For example, comparing customer satisfaction across two different groups (male/female). Books 📚 ➼ This is a book that discusses the included statistical analyses thoroughly (underlying theory etc.) and with good explanations (software implementations focus SPSS and SAS). I found this book very helpful during my doctoral studies: Tabachnick, Barbara G., Linda S. Fidell (2013). Using multivariate statistics. 6th edition, Pearson. ➼ A book by Field about statistical analyses using the software SPSS which I found useful as a master's student and as a university lecturer. The statistics behind the tests are explained as far as necessary, all analyses and clickflows how to run them are described well. The books uses rather particular examples sometimes but if you like this kind of humour this book is for you: Field, A. (2013). Discovering statistics using IBM SPSS statistics, Sage.
