The Warlander is a modern sport horse breed that originated in Australia in the 1990s. It was developed by crossing the Andalusian (Pure Spanish Horse) with the Friesian, combining the athleticism and agility of the Andalusian with the power and elegance of the Friesian. The Warlander usually stands 15–16.2 hands, with a strong yet graceful body, arched neck, expressive head, and long flowing mane and tail. Common coat colors are black, gray, and bay. The breed is admired for its intelligence, willing temperament, and striking appearance. Historically, the Warlander is inspired by the war horses of medieval Europe, which often had similar Andalusian–Friesian blood. However, as an official breed, it is very recent, with the first registry created in the late 20th century. Today, the Warlander is popular in dressage, classical riding, exhibitions, driving, and leisure riding, valued for both its beauty and versatility. It has quickly gained recognition worldwide as a noble and functional modern breed.
