Please leave a comment if you can identify the locations in this film! This rare and fascinating video provides a glimpse of public transit systems of North American cities in the 1960s. There is vintage footage of passengers boarding the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) on sparkling new subway vehicles, commuters on Chicago "L" trains, transportation systems in Cleveland Ohio, and even a monorail test track! There are many rare shots of Toronto along the Yonge subway line, Bloor Street West, TTC stations under construction, and other street scenes with vintage telephone booths and other fixtures. It is surprising to see how little has changed on the TTC in half a decade - aside from a previously clean and sparkling appearance! This film was sponsored by Westinghouse Air Brake Company (WABCO). The colours in this vintage film have been enhanced and background music has been added. http://www.retropeacock.com/the-1950s... Please subscribe for more content!
