"The debut ( / dɛˈbuː /) is a traditional Filipino coming-of-age celebration which celebrates a young woman's 18th birthday, the age of maturity in the Philippines." I had an amazing time documenting Mia's 18th birthday. Mia's parents, Carey and Jennifer A. Alforque, along with their very loving and supportive family and friends, truly made Mia's birthday something that will always be remembered for years to come. But aside from all the fancy decorations, lights, gowns, and production, what I really wanted to capture was the heart of Mia's parents. I wanted to tell a story from the parents' perspective, the pros and cons of seeing your child reaching adulthood, and to capture the inspiring and heartwarming love Mia's parents have for her. Thank you Tamboboy family for letting me roam around and record Mia's amazing birthday celebration and for also letting me capture the nitty gritty details and preparations before the event.
