Dirang to Tawang is a distance of 140 km, If you drive non stop via sela pass you can do this journey in 4 hours but as a tourist this can be anytime between 7 hours to 9 hours. We started from Dirang at 5.45 am and reached Tawang at 8 pm, because we took a lot of halts on the route. Date of journey - 13th april 2022 Following are the details of our journey - Breakfast at Hotel Samjhana a local dhaba- This eatery opens at 7 am morning , located at a distance of 13 km from Dirang. We were served food in Bell metal thali, Dal, Patta gobi, Rajma, Baingan ki bhaji, Taste was homely. Nyukmadung War Memorial - It is constructed for the soldiers who laid down their life for the nation on 17th Nov 1962 Indo-China War. It is quite near to the place where we had breakfast. Multiple halts before Sela pass - You would also love to halt and take few pics before you reach Sela. Sela Pass - located at 13700 ft. There are 3 lakes at Sela pass, view of each lake is beautiful, you would love to visit all the 3 lakes and take some pics. We also had maggie at one of the eateries near sela lake. Jaswantgarh war memorial - This is located at 21 km distance from Sela pass. In this memorial we got to know lot of insight about the 1962 war, how india fought with the Chinese on 17th Nov 1962. Since there was heavy fog after we left the war memorial, so we could not visit Jung waterfall, so we visited this fall on our way back from Tawang.
