ST ANDREW'S CHURCH The cruciform church of St Andrews was rebuilt in 1769 to replace an earlier medieval church on the same site. It stands isolated on top of Greymare Hill at a height of 293 m above sea level. In the churchyard are three headstones reputed to be the early work of the Northumberland sculptor John Graham Lough. THE HOPPER MAUSOLEUM Erected by Humphrey Hopper of Black Hedley in the year 1752 for his beloved wife Jane Hodgson. In contrast to the simplicity of the church, this Grade I listed mausoleum is a grand, elaborate structure unlike any other in the country. It is decorated with obelisks, scrollwork, shields and statues.
