Time for another classic from Microprose - F-19 Stealth Fighter for Amiga. This was actually my first flight sim along with F/A-18 Interceptor that I remember playing. It hit the market in 1990, two years after PC release. Compared to PC version it had better art and sound but run a bit choppy on 500 model with Motorola 68000 CPU clocked at little over 7 MHz (as most sims did on that system). Nevertheless it was fun to play and offered wide variety of gameplay - from stealth recon/spy runs during cold war to full blown strike missions during conventional conflict. It depicted four fairly large hot zones - from open deserts of Libya and Persian Gulf, snowy and cold North Cape to green countrysides of Central Europe. Amiga version also gave you the option to fly the F-117, though it only differed from the F-19 in its external appearence. DOS version got that also in later "patch", but you had to manually swap the 3d model file inside game's directory. Here you would get nice select screen before the flight. Ultimately when I want to fly the F-19 nowadays, I prefer the PC version for the analog joystick controls and fluid gameplay. Since Microprose has risen from the ashes, would you like to see a modern remake of this game?
