During May’s Birder’s Night, Mike Unger, will guide us through Southeast Arizona to see the birds that make this area home during the winter. Mike says winter in Southeast Arizona is from December through February. He states that while many of the tropical specialties are absent there is still a wide diversity of birds to see. A few of the winter birds to see include the Crested Caracara, Mountain Plover and a wide variety of hawks including the Ferruginous Hawk. There are also a lot of winter sparrows to see. Mike will take us on a journey to many of the key winter hotspots. During his presentation he will provide all the information you need to have a successful excursion. He hopes his presentation will entice you to visit Southeast Arizona which is the one of the best birding areas in the world.
