PADDLECELL Founded in 1997 in Wuppertal, Paddlecell combine old-school psychobilly with fast offbeat rhythms and an explosive mix of driving grooves, dark brass arrangements, and gritty vocals. Frontman Marc, whose deep and powerful voice resembles Sparky from Demented Are Go, fits perfectly into the band’s dynamic sound, driven by slap bass, wild drums, and rockabilly guitars. This blend of diverse elements results in a unique style Paddlecell call “Horror-Ska” a powerful, high-energy fusion that goes beyond the boundaries of psychobilly, ska, and rockabilly. Another influential member was Frank Mayerl, a slap-bass virtuoso who enriched Paddlecell’s music until his passing. Also known from the Wuppertal rockabilly band The Cruisers, Frank left a lasting impression on the band and the scene.Paddlecell have performed not only in Germany but also in France, Austria, Finland, England, and Spain (Calella) at major psychobilly festivals. The band has shared the stage with numerous renowned ska and psychobilly acts – to name just a few: The Selecter, Rude and Visser, Hotknives, Rude Rich & The Highnotes, Two Tone Club, Scamps, Mad Sin, Batmobile, Mad Dog Cole, and Frenzy. These international performances strengthened their reputation and established Paddlecell as a solid force in the European scene.Despite their success and many concert requests, the band couldn’t always keep up, leading to several lineup changes. After a longer break and the addition of new musicians, Paddlecell returned to the stage in 2014 as a reunited band – stronger than ever. A familiar face from Ray Collins’ Hot-Club joined Paddlecell, bringing fresh energy to the group. With this new momentum, Paddlecell continue to appeal to fans of 2-Tone, ska-punk, and psychobilly who are looking for fast, intense music.Their collaboration with The Toasters, whose horn section supports the band live, as well as saxophonist DJ on their current album Spooky Jones, demonstrates how their Horror-Ska sound has become well-established and continues to excite a loyal fan base.Paddlecell deliver an energetic, distinctive listening experience that fuses variety, intensity, and pure joy of playing – a mix that appeals to both long-time supporters and new listeners. 🔥RELEASES: 2002 – Demo Tape 2006 – Cool Babe (Halb7 Records) 2006 – Paddlecell (Debut Album, Crazy Love Records) 2007 – Area 51 (Halb7 Records) 2011 – Magazine feature: Dynamite 49 – Cat Rock 2017 – Sometimes We Come Back!* (Album, Part Records) 2024 – Spooky Jones (Album, Trommelfell Records) 🔥Follow Paddlecell for more music & live updates: Website: https://www.paddlecell.de Instagram: / paddlecell Facebook: / officialpaddlecellsite TikTok: / paddlecell 🔥BOOKING paddlecell@web.de #Paddlecell #Psychobilly #Rockabilly #HorrorPunk #SlapBass #GermanPsychobilly
