Despite this, the I series held up reasonably well in the moderate overlap and 50mph frontal crash tests, with relatively controlled deformation. It massively struggles in the small overlap test with dramatic failure of the safety cell, however the door remains shut. The B-pillar is exceptionally weak, resulting in significant intrusion in the side impact crash test.
