Multi-instrumentalist Travis Jenkins is a prolific composer and venturesome improviser. After taking some time to explore the classic organ trio sound through the making of "A Turtles Dream in Outer Space" (on guitar), he makes his return to the piano trio format with himself at the keys for this date at JMI Live. Inspired by the music of jazz pianist Brad Mehldau, the Travis Jenkins Piano Trio will be exploring a repertoire consisting of predominantly contemporary popular song as templates for improvisation. Each set will include arrangements and explorations of well known songs from artists such as The Stranglers, Nick Drake, Radiohead and Black Sabbath, as well as some of Travis's original compositions from his "Pieces for Glass Houses: Portrait of a River City" album. Joining him will be Nick Quigley (Rumble Pack), on double bass and Sam Castan (Tommy Sexton & the Suggestions, Mosspaw), on drums.
