Nigeria Added to US Travel Restrictions - 12PM News 17th December 2025

US President Donald Trump has signed a new proclamation further restricting entry into the United States for nationals of countries classified as high-risk due to what the White House describes as serious gaps in screening, vetting and information-sharing. Nigeria is among 15 additional countries now facing partial entry restrictions under the order. The move follows an earlier declaration in October naming Nigeria a country of particular concern, linked to allegations of widespread religious violence. The proclamation also maintains full entry restrictions on 12 previously listed countries and adds five more, including Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger and South Sudan.
