Traveling by bike in the Yucatan is so affordable and with the flat landscape, typically quite easy. Hotels are generally low cost and inexpensive food can be found in the local markets in each village. Traveling by bike allows you to go slow enough to be able to interact with people, to be immersed in nature and at a good enough pace that you can feel satisfied with distance covered in a day. Long tour - short tour - doesn't matter. My advice is, make a loose plan, keep it simple and then just go....and explore.
