Today on Ancient Eats, we're going to be making Tiger Nut Offering Loaves! Instead of a recipe, we’re going off of a series of vignettes depicted in the tomb of an 18th Dynasty nobleman named Rekhmire, which can kind of act as the one of the closest thing we have to an written ancient Egyptian recipe. That’s around 1400 BCE. These vignettes depict a detailed preparation of these triangular or cone-shaped offering loaves made out of tiger nuts and various other ingredients. 🔴 SUBSCRIBE TO NEVER MISS A VIDEO https://www.youtube.com/c/digitwithra... 🔴 SUPPORT DIG IT WITH RAVEN / digitwithraven WATCH NEXT ○ 4,000 Year Old Stew! Tiger nuts are super interesting. They're apparently a new superfood nowadays, but Tiger nuts were very popular and common along the Nile Valley and could have even been harvested by hunter-gatherers before people started to settle down and begin farming. We’ve found examples of tiger nuts found in tombs, and they were apparently very well liked and used extensively in the ancient Egyptian diet. Tiger nuts were used to make dessert dishes, and they were also boiled in barley drinks to make them a bit sweeter.
