We took budget-built 4x4s – two Toyota beaters and two Jeep Cherokees – on a brutal 347-mile off-road adventure across Tennessee and Alabama, tackling deep mud, slick rock, water crossings, and off-grid camping. But things fell apart fast… literally. 🔥 WHAT WENT WRONG? 🔥 ✅ 13 major failures – from blown fuel pumps to broken hubs, driveshafts, axle shafts, and even a lost wheel! ✅ Will’s Toyota 4Runner ROLLED OVER – first adventure, first roll! ✅ My Jeep-powered Toyota pickup ("Sushi") faced its biggest test – did the controversial Jeep 3.8L swap survive? ✅ Camping off the grid with minimal gear – just hammocks, a campfire, and a whole lot of mechanical repairs.
