loudlabs.com On May 03, 2017 the California High Partrol awarded two local television news photographers for heroic actions they took on New Year's Day. On January 1st, Austin Raishbrook and his friend pulled a man out of a burning vehicle along the northbound lanes of the 110 freeway in South LA. Raishbrook responded to a scene of a stalled car around 3:00 AM when he saw an SUV blacked out. A car was traveling about 70-80 miles per hour when it slammed into the stalled SUV, according to the CHP. That is when Raishbrook saw the SUV engulf in flames. He dropped his camera, later grabbing a fire extinguisher and running across all lanes. After several attempts, he pulled the driver out of his seat belt and the burning car. The SUV then exploded into more flames. In an emotional speech, Raishbrook called the CHP officers the real heroes for the service they do every day.
