In Honor of President's Day - Abraham Lincoln has ties to my Hometown.

The Lincoln Memorial stands at the western end of the National Mall in Washington, D.C., honoring Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of the United States. Designed in a Greek Revival style, the structure resembles a classical temple and was completed in 1922. Inside sits the iconic marble statue of Lincoln, created by sculptor Daniel Chester French, with architecture by Henry Bacon. The memorial is more than a monument—it’s a national symbol of unity, strength, and wisdom. Inscribed above Lincoln’s statue are the words: “In this temple… as in the hearts of the people for whom he saved the Union, the memory of Abraham Lincoln is enshrined forever.” It honors Lincoln’s leadership through the Civil War and his role in freeing four million enslaved people.
