In this episode of Searching for History, Erin, my brother Sterlin and I, continue our visit to Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Germany. Rothenburg is a town in the Franconia region of Bavaria. It was a free imperial city from the late Middle Ages to the beginning of the 19th century. During Rothenburg’s height, from around 1100 to 1400, it was an important stop along Europe’s trade routes. It declined after occupation and sacking during the Thirty Years War, which occurred between 1618 and 1648. It is famous for its well-preserved medieval old town and its intact town wall. It is a highlight on the Romantic Road through southern Germany. This video is Part 4 of a series of videos on Rothenburg. In this episode we will visit the Spitalkirche zum Heiligen Geist, and then we will take a look at the Franziskanerkirche or Franciscan church. After that we will climb to the top of the city hall tower, then visit our favorite restaurant, “Hell.” Lastly, we will experience Rothenburg at night.
