🕊️ Reesum Monastery A Hidden , Reesum Monastery rests gently untouched by concrete, untouched by time. Reesum Monastery, perched above Rinchenpong in West Sikkim, is said to have been established by Pintso Lepcha, a well-known local landlord, for the welfare of the people in the region . Here, there are no grand designs or modern distractions. Just silence, simplicity, and the soft breath of mountain air moving through old prayer flags. Visit to Reesum Monastery – July 27, 2025 On July 27, 2025, our family visited Reesum Monastery in Rinchenpong, Sikkim a place of profound spiritual and personal significance. This visit held even more meaning as it marked one of our final outings with our beloved Akula and Amchung before they return to the United States for work. The presence of the younger generation made the experience all the more memorable and emotional. Reesum Monastery is a sacred part of our family’s spiritual heritage. Our dearly loved late Ajoyap Dorjee Loben spent a significant period of his life here, engaging in rigorous spiritual practice, meditation, and yogic discipline under the guidance of the revered Reesum Rinpoche. It was during this time of deep dedication that he transformed himself spiritually. Upon completing his practice, he was honored with the respected title of Yap Gomchen, a recognition of his spiritual depth and discipline. Later, he returned to Pemayangtse Monastery, where he eventually became the Dorje Loben, continuing his service to the monastic community and spiritual teachings. Being at Reesum Monastery, walking the same grounds where Ajoyap once meditated and evolved, was a surreal experience for all of us. It allowed us to connect more deeply with his legacy and feel the energy of his spiritual journey. Although some parts of the video we recorded were affected by background noise from insects, the essence of the experience remained untouched. We also felt deeply fortunate to witness the kudung (burial site) of the late Reesum Rinpoche, a humbling and sacred moment for our family. This day was more than a visit it was a powerful journey into our roots, a tribute to our grandfather’s spiritual path, and a reminder of the enduring values he embodied. A day that will forever live in our hearts.
