VISUAL THOUGHTS My interaction of death varied in that it could be. Sketching death in art is not to view death as a macabre experience; instead my first impressions of the little nacked bodies are used in different senses. The baby’s heart has stopped beating. The baby stops moving. Something is wrong and occurs during labor and delivery. Dead at the beginning of life. My works of art give the prognosis: Died, born, buried - a short sequence of existence. This was the inception of “Stillbirth”, my dealing with the shortness of human being, as an artistic challenge and analytical confrontation. After an autopsy I am using decalcomanias, an essential technique, to take an imprint of parts of dead babies. Also on transparencies, painted or printed images are pressed with shellac on canvas and correspond so with the imprints from pathology. Rather it was a last-ditch attempt to record liberation and loss. Every baby dies his own death and leaves their marks and is memorialized in images. For me it is appropriate that I come to the place of death and observe from an artist’s viewpoint. The dead babies themselves constitute objects of artistic investigation and will be beautiful or awful, depends on the standard of the society. Art could act as therapy for the living and the dead are always present among the living. I show through the arts that it is a part of individual and social life. The artistic potential of the subject has not been exhausted. The aspect of my artwork can be divided into areas, drawings, paintings, installations, decalcomanias and finally film performances. For the last 26 years I have been on the trail of this last print in Europe and America.
