How to change a chainring on an E*thirteen LG1 crankset. This is on my YT Capra but it is the same process on any bike with this crank set. Some other crank sets are also removed in a similar way such as the SRAM SX, NX & GX cranksets, however the chainring may be attached in a different way. Please Subscribe 👍 There is no need to touch the outer 10mm Allen key bolt at the centre of the drive side crank, this is just a retaining bolt for the inner 8mm bolt to push against, to self extract the crank off the spindle. To remove the chain ring lock ring. Use an E*thirteen lockring tool and a Shimano hollow tech 2 bottom bracket tool or a large adjustable spanner. Be careful not to slip! Chain ring teeth can do a lot of damage 😳 Ensure the spacers are put back in the same order as before and also ensure your new chainring has the same offset. This ensures the chain line is the same, if this is incorrect it can lead to more dropped chains, damaged to your frame, increased wear and a really annoying noise when riding. When putting the chainring back onto the crank check any markings on the chainring line up with the centre of the crank. This is very important with an oval chainring as it ensures the timing of the chainring is correct. If this is not lined up with an oval chainring, it will have the opposite affect of what it is designed to do - make pedalling a lot harder instead of easier.
