I had never been on a plane before and was terrified of flying, but I asked her to go on an Alaskan cruise anyway—knowing fear would be part of the journey. We flew from Atlanta to Seattle, dealt with airport chaos, a forgotten laptop at security, flight delays, and nonstop turbulence on my very first flight. After spending time in Seattle, we boarded a 7-day Alaskan cruise with unforgettable stops in Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, and Sitka. Along the way, we experienced whale watching, the White Pass Scenic Railway, the Fortress of the Bear, the Alaska Raptor Center, and one of the most breathtaking moments of all—cruising through Glacier Bay National Park surrounded by massive glaciers and icebergs.
