How to zoom into parts of your sequence, and move the playhead. Tutorial for Blender Visual Sequence Editor (VSE). Available (free) for Windows, macOS, and Linux. This was written, demonstrated, and spoken by a human. :) AI was not used to produce this video, except to generate captions, which were then reviewed and corrected as necessary. Blender Blender is free and open-source software which can be used for editing videos. It is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. No registration or subscription is required. You can download Blender from: https://www.blender.org/download/ This video was produced using Blender 5.0.1, running on Ubuntu 24.04. Notes The term playhead refers to the current frame being viewed in the viewer, that is, the part that is currently playing. The playhead is shown in the sequencer as a blue vertical line. The frame that the playhead is over will appear in the viewer. On macOS, the Alt key is generally replaced by the ⌥ Option key. However to avoid conflicts sometimes the ⌘ Command key is used instead. If in doubt, check Edit → Preferences → Keymap to see what actions are mapped to what keys. The "middle mouse wheel" refers to the wheel on top of your mouse (in the middle). To zoom you turn the wheel without clicking it. To pan you click and drag that wheel. To resize the height of the sequencer strips, hold Ctrl while you click and drag. Blender sometimes crashes or hangs, particularly when working with text strips in this particular version. I strongly suggest you save your Blender file early and save often.
