ILAAHEE MI BIN - Dedicated to frontliners fighting against COVID-19

"Ilaahee mi bin kuravvaashi amaan" - is a prayer song we've been lovingly hearing and embracing since our days of childhood and juniority. Distinguished senior public servant and noted lyricist Hon. Abdul Rasheed Hussain originally wrote the lyrics for his daughter Aminath Thasneem, to perform at a school singing competition 32 years ago in 1988. The same was later made to a video song along with patriotic visuals to be aired as a filler on State TV, TVM ever since. With the video, this song became very popular in all households and the lines memorized by many. We recall and replay this song more at times of national crisis like the 2004 Tsunami and now during this pandemic. Surely, this reinvigorates our unity and boost morale and patriotism. During the past couple of decades, many renditions of the song were recorded and performed by various artists which further popularized it. Today, as we all live through this toughest period of past and present generations, the dire need to stand united and remain steadfast to save our fellow citizens once again, reminds us of the land our beloved Allah SW has bestowed upon us to protect and safeguard, for us, our children and beyond. Mindful, I requested 34 friends, some well known Singers, TV Presenters, etc. to join in rendering a line each from the song while they too all remained in lockdown in their homes during this COVID-19. I thank you all profusely in obliging and taking time to record your bit on your mobile phones and sending across to me to compile this exquisite piece. Splendid indeed! This project might have some shortcomings technically, I do agree. However, my sole intention and effort was to instill the feeling of love and care for this nation that remains lingering and ingrained in our hearts and to show that we all can keep connected while at home, for one national cause - to remain united in saving our beloved homeland from all catastrophe and to pray for it. This is the blessed land I was born and may Allah shower His blessings always and forever. Special thanks goes to a longtime creative colleague of mine, Mohamed Ahmed Didi​ for inspiring me to undertake this home production. Thanks to all artists and participants for their wonderful effort and dedication. I have made every effort to enhance the lost video quality received via mobile devices. As the prayer song of Dhua to Allah SW begins, the lyricist lavishly pens : First 2 lines - Make it a safe place, this Land created by Allah Land of the Maldivians, the Land I was born On a technical note, I must say delightfully that a never before released stanza is included at the end of the song, so kindly released to me by the song writer, Hon. Abdul Rasheed Hussain. This humble production begins with the voice of his daughter, Aminath Thasneem and ends with the rare voice of the lyricist himself, making this version very special. This A cappella is dedicated to our super heroes of today - the frontliners who are risking their lives to fight against COVID-19. Please give a thought to the heroism sacrifices of our frontliners and volunteers, pray for the recovery of COVID-19 victims and all those who are suffering. Be Strong, Stay home, Stay Safe.
