Health Literacy in schools: What is it and how we can address it

This webinar introduces the concept of health literacy in context of health promotion and education in schools. Health literacy is a relatively new concept in public health and health promotion and in terms of children, adolescents, schools and teachers, there is only little evidence available. Through health literacy children become competent in dealing with and managing health information and learn how they can use it to make informed health choices and influence health behaviour. Teachers are in particular important for teaching health literacy, not only because of their pedagogic stills as educators but they are seen as role models by their students. We will learn about the latest research findings, practical example and discuss ways forward regarding health literacy in schools.
