In this Fluid Power World video shot at the recent MINExpo, Rob Van Deren of the Bosch Security Technology Group explains the company's new MIC-series IP cameras. These feature weather and debris-resistant cases to survive the roughest of environments — even those in mines. At the tradeshow, Bosch displayed the online feed of one camera demonstration … and Van Deren shows how personnel can drive the remote camera through the software … to turn it, record footage, and trigger a lens wiper-and-washer system to clear off any material compromising the image capture. Onboard analytics also allow for smart monitoring of areas with virtual perimeters — say, if a worker comes too close to a dangerous conveyor, for example. The vision system also has counting and route-following algorithms for safety and surveillance analytics.
